The Far Forward region consists of four zones:

  • Tracker and EMCal in B0 magnet
    • Approximate acceptance 7<theta<20 mrad, with theta relative to the ion beam line
  • FFQ magnet string
    • Cold bore (~20K). No detectors. Possible future upgrade with superconducting nano wire trackers, of especial interest for e.g. Lambda -> p pi- decays
  • Off-Momentum Trackers
    • RP stations between 25 and 35 m downstream of IP
    • AC-LGAD (timing & tracking)
    • SiO2 Cherenkov radiator (dZ resolution by signal amplitude)
    • ZDC, 38 m from IP
  • EMCal and HCal
    • Secondary Focus RP trackers
    • Acceptance (P = 275 GeV, could be different at P=41 GeV)
